Megaupload shut down, file sharing being addressed
Megaupload is the latest Napster like site to catch the attention of the courts. MegaUpload founders appeared in a New Zealand court recently to answer to charges of numerous copyright infringements. MegaUpload was shut down after thousands of copyright infringements appeared as a result of illegal file sharing.
This issue has gotten a lot of attention, especially after last week's Wikipedia "going black" protests on the US agencies trying to clamp down on copyright infringement.
There are solutions in place that will allow for producers to receive payment for their efforts. Jesse Hirsch, online strategist and regular contributor to CBC Toronto's Metro morning had some interesting comments during his piece of host Matt Galloway recently.
